Clarifying A Few Things About Virtual HFF 2020

What is the virtual vendor event?

Our vendor hall page will be routinely updated with information we receive from our vendors (if you haven’t looked lately, we have made some changes already!). There’s also a free giveaway for a project bag and gift card, so be sure to check out this page and enter! Unfortunately, we do not have the bandwidth to host virtual trunk shows in addition to offering classes, but we will do our best to share info about vendors on social media as we can.

Will you have raffle prizes and door prizes?

Absolutely! Raffle tickets are available for purchase on our Square site. We are also offering HFF 2020 project bags and gift cards- enter this free giveaway on our vendor page.

Door prize and raffle prize winners will be announced June 29 and contacted by email. Charity raffle runs through July 10, 2020.

Can you tell me more about how the classes are going to work June 26-28?

The concept of hosting live online classes are as new for us as it is for you. We have tried to make a general list of rules and expectations below. Help us help everyone have a great fiber fest weekend! All meeting links are up on our Classes page (each class has a unique link). You do not have to register or sign up to attend- just click the link right before the class starts, and a member of the Houston Fiber Fest will admit you to the meeting.

  1. Please try to join the class a few minutes before the scheduled time- this will help the beginning be smoother and give time to answer technical questions as needed.
  2. After joining the meeting, hover over the teacher and push the “pin” icon to make the teacher the focal point throughout the event.
  3. Everyone but the teacher will be muted during the class. Please respect this- times to unmute will be announced, and there is a chat function as part of Google Meet.
  4. Let’s keep it fiber related- no harsh language, no politics
  5. All classes will be recorded .

Have questions about Google Meet tech requirements? See article linked here.

All classes will have a member from the Houston Fiber Fest as moderator. You will be removed from the event if you are a disruption or are ruining the class for others. Our goal is to make this a super fun weekend, so let’s work together to make this an unforgettable year!

What are we doing about the charity?

Our charity focus is the heart of our event, and we haven’t forgotten about this piece. Head over to our Charity page for information on how to purchase a ticket for our charity raffle, and where to send your knitted knockers for entry as well! All charity entries will be accepted through July 10, 2020.

Can I get some merch with that new awesome logo?

Yeah you can! We are using a company called Threadless to get you access to some great stuff. There are shirts, bags, buttons, magnets, and more! Link to Houston Fiber Fest’s Threadless Store here.

Thanks for your patience as we worked through all the details- Hope you’re as excited as we are!

  • Visit the Vendor page to see our 2020 Virtual Vendor Hall!
  • We are pleased to announce that we will be hosting free, live classes June 26-28! Head on over to our Classes page to learn more. (we are still in the process of scheduling classes and information on this page will continue to change over the coming days. We will announce when all is finalized.)

Houston Fiber Fest Officially Postponed to 2021

Hi all,

With heavy hearts, we would like to inform everyone that the Houston Fiber Fest will not occur this year. The event has been postponed until June 25-27, 2021. There were a multitude of things that were considered when making this decision. Ultimately, the health and safety of our vendors, teachers, and participants were at the heart of this decision. Please know that this decision was not made lightly.

  • We are currently looking into options on how to host something virtually. Stay tuned! Not making any promises, but we are going to try!
  • Our charity focus for this year will be carried over to the 2021 Fiber Fest.
  • Did you purchase a ticket through Eventbrite? No worries, this will be refunded 100%. No action is needed on your part to receive a refund, this will be automatically handled.

We will continue to update you on what we learn in the coming days about virtual options! Have suggestions on what else we can do? Comment or send us a note- we are all ears!
